Leveraging Autonomous Vehicles to Tally Cooperative Driving Behavior

چکیده

The number of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) coexisting with conventional human-driven vehicles is expected to increase significantly in the coming years. This coexistence will last decades before full AV adoption achieved worldwide. However, cautious nature AVs and aggressive behavior some human drivers could create unprecedentedly challenging scenarios for AVs, such as being stuck on merge lanes blocked by vehicles. On other hand, cooperative assist avoiding deadlock situations. In this paper, we propose leverage tally driving To end, model a “highway merge” scenario, which tends be AVs. We vary percentage estimate required acts. Results show that when fifty percent cooperate, cooperation leads statistically significant reductions up 68%, 46%, 38%, 5% stop delay, stops, vehicle travel time, respectively. Finally, demonstrate 30% penetration sufficient 78% highway scenarios. promote across population, our future work revolves around construction vehicular profiles based their behavior. These regularly updated disseminated among aid decisions toward upcoming interactions.

A Behavior-Based Mission Planner for Cooperative Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

Due to its applications in marine research, oceanographic, and undersea exploration, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and the related control algorithms has been recently under intense investigation. In this work, we address target detection and tracking issues, proposing a control strategy which is able to benefit from the cooperation among robots within the fleet. In particular, we intro...

Toward More Realistic Driving Behavior Models for Autonomous Vehicles in Driving Simulators

Autonomous vehicles are one of the most, if not the most, encountered elements in a driving simulator. Their impact on the realism of the simulator is critical. For autonomous vehicles to contribute positively to the realism of the hosting driving simulator, they need to have realistic appearance and, possibly more importantly, realistic behavior. This paper addresses the problem of modeling re...

Decentralized Cooperative Control of Autonomous Surface Vehicles

Many pressing issues associated with control of cooperative intelligent systems involve challenges that arise from the difficulty of coordinating multiple task objectives in highly dynamic, unstructured environments. This chapter presents a multi-objective cooperative control methodology for a team of autonomous surface vehicles deployed with the purpose of protecting a waterway against hostile...

Cooperative Localization for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

This paper describes an algorithm for distributed acoustic navigation for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). Whereas typical AUV navigation systems utilize pre-calibrated arrays of static transponders, our work seeks to create a fully mobile network of AUVs that perform acoustic ranging and data exchange with one another to achieve cooperative positioning for extended duration missions over...

An Algorithm for Supervised Driving of Cooperative Semi-Autonomous Vehicles (Extended)

Before reaching full autonomy, vehicles will gradually be equipped with more and more advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), effectively rendering them semi-autonomous. However, current ADAS technologies seem unable to handle complex traffic situations, notably when dealing with vehicles arriving from the sides, either at intersections or when merging on highways. The high rate of accidents...
